Snapshots

It was another sizzling hot day here in Roma.   Hats and water bottles at the ready, we caught #8 and began our trek from Piazza Venezia, a couple of pros now (and doesn’t that figure because tomorrow, we leave for Verona).

So much beauty to absorb, from every piazza, duomo and landmark.   Here are the highlights:

Piazza Navona

From here, to the exquisite, indescribable Pantheon, 25 BC

The Oculus (the only source of light in the building)

Pan, interior of the Parthenon

Exquisite, Madonna and child

From here, a really enjoyable walk through the old streets to work our way towards the Trevi Fountain.   Beautiful, yes, but almost inaccessible due to the crowds.   Still, another stroke off the bucket list.

Domani, we will say goodbye to Roma and this charming and beautiful apartment and catch a high speed train to Verona, which I think is about a 5 hour trip.   We’ve practiced our route to the Bus/Train station and with only one switch in Roma Centrale, things look pretty straightforward (I hope I don’t regret saying that out loud).    Next stop, beautiful Verona!
